Mingay Island

Mingay has always been an interesting name and we are unsure where it came from, there appears to be a Mingay Island, near to Islay in Scotland. And Wikipedia believes that Mingay is Old Norse, which would give our family name a new twist...

The Guild of One-Name Studies believe that it is from Breton, France, as there is a Mingay who was a Breton tenant in Essex in the Doomsday book.

Clarence Road, London

This is Henry and Kitty in the conservatory of what appears to be Clarence Road, however I can not work out whether it is Richmond or Chiswick, both have Clarence Roads and who knows what they looked like before the war.

When I saw this photo for the first time I gasped. My Grandmas casually turned to me and said "oh the one with them on each others shoulders?", as though it was just another day...
